A Collection of Photography by James Rigler & Gail Ward

An overview

Combining the captivating beauty of the sun and moon with the spectacular scenery of the Hawaiian Islands, Hawaii Sun Aloha Moon is a unique photographic journey from the sacred sites of early Hawaii to the modern architecture of Honolulu.

Using the travel logs of such 19th century visitors as Mark Twain and Isabella Bird as inspiration, we created a photographic journal of the Islands at the turn of 20th the century.

We spent over two years traveling throughout the Islands in pursuit of these images. It required extensive research in the areas of lunar phases, geography, meteorology, Hawaiian culture and history.
Part photography book, part travel book, it is our special tribute to a magical place: for anyone who loves photography, the beauty of Hawaii and the spirit of Aloha.
This book makes a wonderful travel guide for the photographer who wants a challenging new way to see and photograph the islands . . . that is letting the sun and moon guide you.
